私が12歳だった2018年、フィジーセカンダリースクールラグビー協会スーパーディーンズの決勝でラトゥ カダヴレヴ スクールが優勝し、栄えあるディーンズカップを手にしたとき、私はふたつのことを自身に約束しました。ひとつは、初等教育を終えた後、ラトゥ カダヴレヴ スクールに入学すること。もうひとつは、2025年の大会決勝戦後、U-18のキャプテンとしてディーンズカップを手にすることです。このふたつは常に私のモチベーションとなり、今もなお私の原動力となっています。私は全寮制の環境に身を置いていますが、自己管理とケア、行動や決断に責任を持つ生き方を学びながら、常に全力を尽くし、優れた成績を収められるよう努力してきました。もし周りにいじめにあっている生徒がいれば、積極的に支援の手を差し伸べたいとも思っています。また、学校の授業についていくために、時間を見つけて努力を続けました。自分自身と他者のこと、さらには学業を両立させることはとても大変で、スポーツにも取り組むとなると、自分を限界まで追い込むことになります。これは簡単なことではなく、勇気、決意、集中力が求められます。そのとき、働く父と母の姿を思い浮かべることで、私は頑張り続けています。昨年、ディーンズU-17で優勝し、夢の実現に一歩近づいたと思った矢先、私の目の前に、私の考えを180度覆すような大きな出来事が起こりました。それが、このサニックスワールドラグビーユース交流大会への出場決定です。7年前の2018年に、私を奮い立たせたあのチームが同年に制覇した大会への出場が決まりました。世界の強豪チームとの戦い、そしてこのサニックスワールドラグビーユース交流大会2025で勝利することは、今や私にとって人生最大の挑戦となりました。
In 2018, at the age of 12, after the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union Super Deans Final, when RKS won the finals to take home the prestigious DEANS Cup. I promised two things, firstly, I would enroll myself in Ratu Kadavulevu School, after my primary education, secondly, I will hold the DEANS cup as the captain of the Under 18, after the final’s come 2025. These two things have always been and is my current motivator. I have always given my best to excel in boarding environment where students are to learn and experience first hand the life of self-care and self-management and taking responsibility in every action and every decision that I make. I had to take a step forward to also look after those who were vulnerable and exposed to bully and taking this in hand, I had to find time to keep up with the school work. Looking after self, others and academic is quite a lot and when sports come in, I will always force myself excel in sports also. This is not an easy task, but it takes courage, determination and focus and when all of this is done with, the very thing that keeps me going is the image of my working mom and dad. Wining the U17 Grade in the National Deans competition last year took me one step closer to achieving my dream but this sudden hiccup has turned the table 1800 on me. This is the one and only Sanix World Rugby Youth Tournament and this was won by the same team that inspired me 7 years ago in 2018. This I would say is the greatest challenge of my life, wining the Sanix World Rugby Youth Tournament 2025 against the best of the best secondary school rugby.
